About Heather

Playing Background

Heather grew up playing competitive softball and was a four-year starter at Division I UNC Greensboro.

Her background is strongest in hitting, defense, fundamentals, and the mental side of the game. She has stayed heavily involved in softball through coaching, private instruction, and player development.

Coaching Background

Heather currently coaches high school softball at Fuquay-Varina High School and provides private softball instruction at South Wake Sports Academy.

She previously coached at William Peace University and with the LLG travel ball organization. She has experience working with individual athletes, small groups, teams, and camp settings across a wide range of ages and skill levels.

Heather’s Coaching Style

Heather’s coaching style is encouraging, honest, and detail-oriented. She wants athletes to work hard, but she also wants them to feel supported, confident, and excited to keep improving.

Her lessons focus on fundamentals, mindset, and helping players become tougher, smarter, and more confident on the field. She believes athletes improve faster when they understand the “why” behind what they are doing — not just the mechanics.

What Players Can Expect

Confidence

Heather helps athletes stop playing afraid, trust their preparation, and carry themselves with more confidence on the field.

Consistency

Players learn that improvement comes from effort, repetition, strong routines, and learning how to handle mistakes.

Game Awareness

Heather helps players understand the game at a deeper level so they can make adjustments and compete with more purpose.

Common Focus Areas

The Process Over the Outcome

One common mistake Heather sees is players getting too focused on the outcome instead of the process. Whether it is a bad swing, a missed ground ball, or a strikeout, one mistake can quickly turn into several if the player does not know how to reset.

Heather helps athletes learn how to take a breath, make an adjustment, and move forward with confidence.

Small Wins That Matter

Heather loves seeing a player make an adjustment on her own. It may be better body language, attacking the next rep with confidence, or finally understanding something they have been working on.

Those small wins usually lead to big progress.
